Getting to Quail Hill Trailhead
Quail Hill is located just off the 405 freeway in Irvine. This location is perfect because you can get there without the long hike or heavy crowds that you’d get at more popular OC trails. The trail is just a short, easy walk that will lead you to several beautiful spots to pop the question.
To get there, simply type in "Quail Hill Trailhead" into your phone to get GPS directions directly to the location.
The parking lot is designated for hikers going to Quail Loop Trail and there are plenty of spots available for parking right off the trail.

Quail Hill Trailhead is available to the public for free and does not require a permit for the proposal.

Choosing the Best Spot to Propose
While Quail Hill is a loop trail that spans over 2 miles, you won’t need to walk far to find a beautiful spot. Here are a few of my favorite proposal spots:
Quail Hill Garden: At the front of the trail, you can find a nice garden and picnic area that is located next to the restrooms.
Facing west at sunset, where the light spills over the hills—perfect for that cinematic, sun-drenched moment.
Tips for Proposing at Quail Hill Trailhead
The golden hour is hands-down the best time to propose here.
The soft light casts a warm, romantic glow across the hills.
If you want privacy, consider proposing on a weekday evening. Weekends can bring in more foot traffic—especially during spring and summer.
I recommend visiting this location before your proposal so you know where the best spot is to propose and how long the walk will take. It’s a short, easy loop, but it helps to plan ahead.
